Policy professionals take the responsibility of addressing the world's most pressing issues such as poverty, terrorism, nuclear proliferation, capacity building, growing environmental degradation, human migration, child soldiers, small arms, multi-lateral trade negotiations to name but a few.
Professional success in these policy areas lies in deepening the knowledge and sharpening the skills that builds a bridge from general competence to the career path that leads to each student's professional goals. Thus, it is critical for MAIPS students to choose a specialization to match their individual background, interests, and career objectives. A successful specialization harnesses the student's individual strengths to their intellectual and professional objectives.
Under special circumstances, customized specializations can be designed to fit a student's specific interests, when those interests are not fully covered by the specializations listed above. If you wish to pursue a customized specialization, you will need to work with your faculty advisor directly and gain approval from the GSIPS Dean prior to submitting your Study Plan at the end of your first semester.
