MAIEP MBA Dual Degree

Attain a dual degree in only three years at the Monterey Institute! Combining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a Master of Arts in International Environmental Policy (MAIEP) will unlock doors not only in business careers but also in government, international organizations, and NGOs. Pursuing a dual degree at the Monterey Institute permits students to complement their MBA studies with a strong concentration in environmental policy and global business.

With its growing ranks and professional recognition, the value of attaining two degrees has never been higher. Over 10,000 students in 140 chapters have joined Net Impact, an international non profit organization focused on integrating corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability into business schools. At the Monterey Institute, students undertaking the dual MAIEP-MBA degree run the Net Impact Chapter.

Cross-disciplinary Effectiveness

The Institute's unique combination of four professional graduate schools exposes students to diverse professional perspectives. Students can cross-register in courses at other Institute schools and some courses are jointly taught by faculty from several schools.

  • IEP / MBA Total Requirement (90-96 Credits)

Student Stories

Before entering the environmental field I spent eight years in e-Commerce consulting. Much of the internet economy's initial growth was a bubble but sustainability is different because it fundamentally affects so many diverse industries at the foundation of our global macro-economy: food production, water, construction, power generation, waste management. I want to be well-positioned to play a major role in this new economy and that's why I'm getting dual degrees in International Environmental Policy and Business.
- Max Perelman, August 2009

"I decided to pursue a dual degree in MAIEP/MBA at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in order to build a true link between two heavily divided worlds: business and the environment. Both areas must co-exist if solutions for environmental degradation can be implemented. On a planet with finite natural resources, businesses must integrate environmental sustainability into ‘how they do business’. The MAIEP/MBA dual degree is teaching me the proper skills and tools to bridge this gap, creating the necessary long-term conservation and preservation approach to the planet's natural resources and ecosystems."
- Rafael Burgos, May 2009
