My Institute Experience
Picture of Moyara de Moraes Ruehsen
Nowhere else have I found a more motivated group of graduate students eager to make a positive difference in the world. They come here after having had substantive work experiences abroad, and they bring the wisdom gained from those experiences with them into the classroom.

GSIPS DEGREES

A degree from the Monterey Institute is the credential of a highly prepared individual who can immediately to contribute to an organization’s effectiveness. GSIPS students may pursue one of four master’s degrees, usually completed in two years. (A limited number of students are accepted into a combined BA/MA program.)

MAIPS
The Master of Arts in International Policy Studies
is a policy degree offering professional, skills-based training in policy studies, with the opportunity to specialize in a range of contemporary global issues:

For course description information, please refer to courses taught.

MPA
The Master of Public Administration in International Management
is an innovative MPA focusing on the impact of international organizations (IOs), nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), governmental agencies, and private-sector project development programs.

MAITP
The Master of Arts in International Trade Policy
was the first international MA degree ever established in this expanding and exciting field. This is the degree for those interested in trade policy, trade development, trade-related aspects of international development, and the government-to-government aspects of trade negotiations, including treaties, the European Union, and other regional trade pacts.

MAIEP
The Master of Arts in International Environmental Policy
is one of the few degrees of its type in the world. Environmental policy is a global issue – pollution and climate change do not stop at national borders. From climate control to eco-tourism, to the tradeoffs between resource consumption and economic development, students focus on the international aspects of environmental policy.

BAIS and BAIS/MA
The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, and the Joint BAIS/MA ,
are two unique opportunities for a select number of students. Typically, students enter as juniors, transferring credit from other undergraduate institutions, and go on the complete a bachelor’s degree, with most going on to a master’s degree either in GSIPS, or one of the other graduate schools at the Monterey Institute.
